Battle of Gettysburg

This battle was from July 1-3, 1863. The battle occurred in Adams, Pennsylvania. The generals for the Union side was Maj. Gen. George G. Meade. The amount of soldiers for the Union side was 97,000. The Confederate side was Gen. Robert E. Lee. The amount of soldiers from the Confederate side was 75,000. The amount of causalities for both of the sides was 51,000, the Union had 23,000, and the Confederate side had 28,000. The Union had won this battle. There was more than 5,000 horses that died during this battle. There was 634 cannons that were positioned at this battle. When the battle was over there was 37,547 rifles left laying. The significance of this battle was that Lee tried to invade the North, but it was a fail. The Pickett's Charge meant that the South had lost, and Lee never tried to invade the North again.
